KEYPLANTS, MODWAVE AND YONKERS INDUSTRIES CREATE  ModularPartners

A PARNTERSHIP FOR COMPLETE MODULAR SOLUTIONS TO THE PHARMACEUTICAL AND BIOTECH INDUSTRIES

Several international firms that provide global services to the biotech and pharmaceutical industries have joined forces to provide turnkey modular project delivery services on a worldwide basis.  The new entity, called ModularPartners constitutes the partnership of KeyPlants, ModWave and Yonkers Industries.  KeyPlants, based in Stockholm, Sweden, comprised of former Pharmadule AB resources and Yonkers Industries, based in Cary, North Carolina, USA, will work together providing project management, design, engineering, module fabrication support, site logistics, site installations, commissioning, qualification, and turnover services.  ModWave based in Morristown, New Jersey, and led by former Pharmadule North America's management team, will provide business development and sales/marketing services for the partnership.  ModularPartners has been in development for the past three months, and was officially formalized with the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding, signed on May 12, 2011 in Terrassa, Spain at the worldwide headquarters of Telstar which has a financial stake in KeyPlants.  The combined resources and management team of ModularPartners will provide Pharmaceutical and Biotech modular systems that will include: complete modules, module components (box in box approach), and process module skids (or super skids) to support a variety of capital investment options related to brand new sites, site expansions, and renovation/retrofit type capital projects that demand aggressive schedule, cost, and scope control compliance.  ModularPartners has an agreement with and will source modular construction and modular construction and module component shop fabrication including assembly, from the former Pharmadule AB Fabrication sites.

ModularPartners will commence operations immediately with primary operations centers in Stockholm, Sweden, Cary, North Carolina and Terrassa, Spain.  Additionally, ModularPartners with the combined resources of KeyPlants, ModWave and Yonkers Industries, will provide strategic office and operation locations in the US, Puerto Rico, UK, Ireland, China, Thailand, Brazil, Argentina and at other locations worldwide.

Modularization has become one of the most important ways to increase quality, productivity and time-to-market in industries as varied as software, electronics and aerospace.  There is an increasing trend to apply modularization in the design and construction of more advanced facilities for the life science industries.   According to independent research by Construction Industry Institute (CII), 80% of all conventional construction projects in the western world are delayed by more than 4 months.  Statistics of modular life science projects indicate that 80% of projects are completed within 2 months of the originally planned schedule.  Modular projects are also typically completed 6-12 months faster than projects executed conventionally.  Statistics also show that 70% of all modular life science projects are completed with 3% or less cost variance.
